What The Muninn Group Is — And Why It Does Not Exist Anywhere Else.

The Muninn Group is a Wilmington, NC-based strategic consulting firm built around one conviction: that the analytical rigor and strategic frameworks that have long been reserved for the world’s largest corporations belong in the hands of small business owners, entrepreneurs, and the people who are actually building something.

The Wilmington consulting landscape is filled with marketing agencies, accountants, and generalist coaches. What it does not have — what most of North Carolina does not have — is a firm bringing genuine MBB-caliber thinking to small businesses and organizations. The analytical depth of McKinsey, BCG, and Bain has been reserved for Fortune 500 boardrooms. The Muninn Group changes that.

Our name comes from Muninn — one of Odin’s ravens, the raven of memory and reflection. Clear-eyed analysis of where you have been is what makes it possible to chart where you are going. That is the work.

The Founder

Philip White — Founder & Principal Consultant

I grew up in and around small business. I understand what it means to build something with your own hands and limited resources — not as a concept, but as a lived reality.

After the 2007 financial crash, I became unsheltered. Through years of work and determination, I rebuilt — and eventually earned a full-ride scholarship to Amherst College, one of the most academically rigorous and selective liberal arts institutions in the United States.

At Amherst, I earned degrees in Economics and Political Science, with a focus on the history and deconstruction of autocratic governments. I was awarded the Jeanne E. Reinle Prize by the Amherst Economics Department — a faculty-selected honor recognizing exceptional passion and commitment to economics. I also attended classes at MIT.

While studying abroad at Trinity College Dublin — the top-ranked university in Ireland, the most educated nation on earth — I was awarded the Medal for Composition by The College Historical Society (The Hist). The Hist holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest student society, founded in 1770. Its medal has been held by people including Wolfe Tone, Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, and Samuel Beckett. My medal was presented by former Irish President Mary Robinson and former Governor of the Irish Central Bank Philip Lane. I won this medal not at home — but at the hardest school in the most educated country on earth.

I overcame a significant stutter to become a public speaker. I have designed and conducted original economic research — the North Carolina Cost of Voting Index (NCCOVI), a quantitative framework analyzing structural barriers to voting access across NC counties. I have built AI-powered applications, including an intelligent job search and application tool, demonstrating practical fluency in AI integration that I now bring to small business clients.

I founded The Muninn Group because I have seen what happens when serious strategic thinking reaches people who have never had access to it. It changes everything.
