Philip White — Keynote Speaker & Advocate

Service 04

A Speaker Who Has Lived It.

Not a story crafted for a stage. A life — with everything that means. And a message that stays with people long after they leave the room.

About Philip

The Kind of Speaker Who Makes People Stop Checking Their Phones.

Philip White is the Founder and Principal Consultant of The Muninn Group — North Carolina’s premier strategic consulting firm. He is an economist, a political strategist, a geopolitical risk analyst, and an accomplished public speaker with a story that audiences do not forget.

He grew up with a debilitating stutter. He is a survivor of childhood molestation. After losing his job as a result of the 2007 financial crash, he was forced to live on the streets as an unsheltered person. He found his way into alcoholism — and then, through years of extraordinary effort and unwillingness to surrender, into recovery. He has been sober for years and works actively with people in recovery and their families.

Through all of it, he rebuilt. He earned a full-ride scholarship to Amherst College, one of the most academically rigorous institutions in the United States, where he earned degrees in Economics and Political Science. He attended classes at MIT. He studied abroad at Trinity College Dublin — the top-ranked university in Ireland, the most educated nation on earth — where he was awarded the Medal for Composition by The Historical Society of Trinity College Dublin, the Guinness World Record holder for the world’s oldest student-run society. His medal was presented by former Irish President Mary Robinson and former Governor of the Irish Central Bank Philip Lane.

He overcame that debilitating stutter to become an accomplished public speaker — and has spent nearly a decade speaking publicly about his experiences, advocating for survivors, supporting people in recovery, and delivering the message that what you have been through does not have to be the end of your story.

His message is not about him. It is about what is possible — for any person, in any room, regardless of where they started or what they have been through. That message lands because it is not manufactured. Every word of it is true.

Speaking Topics

Every Talk Is Built Around What Your Audience Needs to Hear.

Philip does not deliver a single canned keynote to every audience. Every engagement is customized to the specific event, the specific audience, and the specific message that will resonate most. The following are his core topic areas — each of which can be tailored, combined, or focused depending on your needs.

Resilience & Reinvention

What it actually takes to rebuild after everything falls apart — and what becomes possible when you refuse to let where you started determine where you finish. This is Philip’s most personal talk and consistently his most requested.

Small Business Strategy

Why small business owners have been systematically excluded from the tools that actually work — and what changes when they finally have access to enterprise-grade strategic thinking. Practical, direct, and immediately actionable.

Geopolitical Risk

How global dynamics — trade policy, political instability, currency shifts, regulatory change — affect businesses and organizations in ways most people never see coming. Delivered in plain English, with no jargon, and immediate relevance to your audience’s world.

Leadership Under Pressure

What real leadership looks like when things are hard — not the version from business books, but the version that exists when the stakes are real and the answers are not obvious. Built on firsthand experience and delivered with directness and honesty.

North Carolina Politics

The state of political affairs in North Carolina — the landscape, the opportunities, the challenges, and what it takes to build effective campaigns and organizations in one of the most competitive political environments in the country.

Your Topic

If your event has a specific theme, audience, or message in mind that is not listed here — reach out. Philip works with event organizers to build talks that are genuinely tailored to what their audience needs, not adapted from something pre-existing.

Speaking on Survival & Recovery

Some Talks Change the Room. These Change Lives.

For nearly a decade, Philip has spoken publicly — in interviews, in person, and on stage — about two of the most difficult chapters of his life: surviving childhood molestation, and finding his way into and out of alcoholism.

He does not speak about these things to be vulnerable for its own sake. He speaks about them because there is always someone in the room who needs to hear that survival is possible. That recovery is possible. That the person your family always knew you were — the one that got buried under trauma, under addiction, under shame — is still there, and still worth fighting for.

Philip works with survivors of childhood trauma — helping them move from victim to survivor to something more: a person who has taken the worst thing that ever happened to them and refused to let it be the defining fact of their life. He works with people in recovery and their families — not as a therapist, but as someone who has walked that road and understands what it actually costs and what it actually takes.

If your organization, event, or community would benefit from a speaker who can address these topics with the authority of lived experience, the honesty of someone who has nothing left to hide, and the genuine desire to help people find their way through — Philip is available and honored to be considered.

What to Expect

No Canned Speeches. No Generic Motivation. Just the Real Thing.

There is a version of motivational speaking that exists to make the speaker look impressive — big sweeping statements, theatrical pauses, and stories that feel designed for a stage rather than lived in real life. That is not what Philip delivers.

What he delivers is honest. It is specific. It is delivered in plain English without jargon, without buzzwords, and without the kind of empty inspiration that people applaud in the room and forget on the drive home. He talks about real things that happened to real people — including himself — and he draws from them the kind of insight that audiences actually carry with them.

Every engagement begins with a conversation about your event, your audience, and what you want them to walk away with. The talk is built from there. Not adapted from something else. Built from there.
